You Just Can Not Beat A Good Cup of Coffee
December 31st, 2009 by keen bean
So many buzz words swirl in front of our eyes and fill our ears daily. With the sale of coffee alone we encounter terms such as organic coffee, fairtrade coffee, even just good old ground coffee. Then these are the blended together with our own personal experiences.
How this truly influences us we may never fully understand. Though people spend entire careers studying the impact of advertising and marketing, some things remain speculative. However, one thing has always been consistently reliable, and will continue to be true. A great cup of coffee, no matter what, is still a wonderful thing to be enjoyed from the very first sip to the last.
A Good Conversation With A Stranger
December 30th, 2009 by keen bean
On a plane trip from London to Houston I was seated next to a lovely Southern lady born and raised in Texas. During our on and off again conversation I learned that she was not familiar with fair trade coffee. It became apparent after she made reference to an ad campaign that referred to Puro coffee.
She mentioned that she had the chance to enjoy a cup of Puro during her visit to a pub in Litton Cheney and had made a mental note that she was quite fond of it. Her intent was to begin to buy coffee online, and she hoped Puro would be available to her that way. Then upon reading the ad, she noted the information about it being a fair trade product. This spurred the beginning of a lengthy convo that was very informative for us both.
Gourmet Coffee Defined in Broad Strokes
December 29th, 2009 by keen bean
There are quite a few terms heard daily that some of us can admit we really do not know what they mean. For example, gourmet coffee is one of those coffee-related phrases that we constantly see written and hear uttered, but might not have a handle on the actual meaning of it.
So, I looked it up and found that gourmet coffee comes from exceptional Arabica beans that are grown most often in the optimum conditions of mountainous regions. Those beans are then predominantly hand picked with great care and attention. All in all, the gourmet coffee has what is referred to as a distinctive flavour, and is highly desirable for this element. And that my friend is a little bit of knowledge to add to your coffee and tea trivia bank.

For many communities, world wide, coffee is a tradition. Whether you are a native of New Orleans, Louisiana or Naples, Italy you will surely have a history with coffee that might span from coffee beans to the coffee cup. No matter what the level, there is a very strong chance that your relatives enjoyed a good brew, and you were brought up on it.
With the advent of your own family, and traditions as well, the perfect opportunity to make fairtrade coffee a custom is at hand. With this step you will promote an ethical existence along with good taste. Especially at the holidays, such a treat can be formed into a family practice that can be passed along from generation to generation.
Everyone Should Know the Story of Fair Trade Coffee
December 27th, 2009 by keen bean
It is not an entirely new thing, but there is still a buzz about the availability of fair trade coffee online. In fact, there is a plethora of fair trade articles that can be purchased online, but coffee is a definite leader in this arena. It is so loved throughout the world that it really does not come as any great surprise.
The story itself of the birth of fair trade coffee is one that can bring a tear to the eye. It is somewhat unfortunate that not all that many know the great lengths that have been undertaken, nor the efforts that were made to bring the product to life. If given the opportunity each coffee supplier, and all coffee drinkers should familiarize themselves with the tale.
Online Coffee Shop is Open Twenty Four Seven
December 26th, 2009 by keen bean
One place that never closes, not even for Christmas, is an online coffee shop. After all the gifts have been handed out, and the bellies are more than full, coffee is on the brain of many an individual. It is just such a soothing item, in scent and flavour. Not to mention the warmth is a beautiful thing in these chilly months.
So, after all the plates have been cleared, and the kitchen cleaned, get straight online. That is after you have had your fill of silly, and traditional holiday movies, excuse yourself from the group and head to your computer. The shop is just waiting for you to arrive and place your order for as much as your little heart desires. It takes only a snippet of time to locate a fairtrade coffee supplier.
Christmas is No Excuse for Bad Coffee
December 25th, 2009 by keen bean
Being a coffee fanatic I actually worry that whichever relative in my family is hosting Christmas might overlook this integral part of the day. Yes, I do appreciate the fact that I will be receiving free coffee, but that is just not enough. Especially on an important day like Christmas, or Christmas Eve, or New Years Eve, or, well you get the picture.
The bottom line is that thought I know it sounds spoiled, or ungrateful, but I actually need good coffee to make my day right. Mostly, around the holidays all I can do is hope that Aunt Ida, or Uncle Stuart gives me a coffee gift of a tasty blend and then I can offer the host or hostess the bag to use at the occasion. Otherwise, the risk is just too great, and I question how happy my holiday will actually be until I get my first sip at the party.
Shopping and Coffee Go Hand in Hand
December 24th, 2009 by keen bean
Out in the freezing weather, doing my last minute shopping on Christmas Eve, I was absolutely craving my fave organic coffee. I was running so late that the lighting was changing and shop owners were switchging out their window decorations to prepare for the Boxing Day sales.
Though I was down to the wire, and feeling the stress set in, I really wanted a super hot cup of coffee. Funny how a silly little thing like the aroma of freshly ground coffee can take over and remove your focus from the task at hand. I had been rained on and step upon, so my spirits were not soaring. Alas, that is just what good coffee can do to us. Ultimately, I got my much-deserved steaming mug, and aunt Judith will just have to settle for another scented candle as a gift from me yet again.
The Personal Taste Test Results
December 23rd, 2009 by keen bean
There are plenty of good reasons to go with fair trade coffee when you buy coffee online. Thank goodness one of the most compelling is that it tastes great. Sure it is commendable to do a good thing and to employ your conscience when making regular purchases, but to suffer through bad coffee seems incomprehensible.
So, after doing a few personal taste tests I was overjoyed to find that there are many tasty and aromatic fair trade roasts out there to be had by one and all. Personally, I like the knowledge that somewhere out in the big world there is someone, an entire family, and ultimately maybe a whole community that benefits from my choice, and commitment to purchase fair trade. Still, when it comes to coffee, if the fair trade stuff was not flavourful and rich, I would have to make a change.
What A Hostess is Responsible For Today
December 22nd, 2009 by keen bean
When hosting a gathering, it is common to offer guests both coffee and tea at some point. Back in the day, this was much easier to achieve than it is today. Then you could supply an average brew of both items and your duties were complete. Plus, all you needed to provide along with the beverages were cream, milk and sugar.
However, now there are new standards to be upheld. Your guests are more saavy, and their taste buds more discerning. To do things right, you need flavoured creams, low fat milk, a variety of sugar and sugar substitutes, gourmet coffee and tea. The list goes on and on, and you can get a bit overwhelmed with the whole darn thing. But, to keep up appearances, and make your invitees truly happy your work is cut out for you.
