Much-Loved Gourmet Coffee

September 16th, 2009 by keen bean

Today, millions of people worldwide enjoy both coffee and tea without so much as a thought as to how the beverages came to exist. Specifically, with coffee alone there are umpteen fables surmising its source. Recently, new botanical evidence has been evaluated, and a substantiated theory has been established. The data indicates that human interaction with the coffee bean first occurred in central Ethiopia.

It appears that the coffee bean was then transported during the 6th century to Yemen. At this juncture, it was offered to the public in what is believed to have been the first coffee houses located in Cairo and Mecca. From this point, coffee’s purpose shifted from simple stimulant to that of infatuation. This eventually led to the inception of our much-loved gourmet coffee.
